1972 1800ES #859 maintenance & repairs (last 4 years, per current owner)
I have put about 6K miles on this car in the past four years. It has had
no body damage, except for a lightly cracked taillight lens from my backing into
a lawn mower. All rust spots have been eliminated or stabilized; I
removed, cleaned, resealed, and reinstalled the front wheel well inside back
seal panels; small rust spots on the floor have been POR 15'd, patched with
metal, caulked and undercoated for a temporary (or permanent) repair.
I got caught out once in the rain and it does not leak anywhere. There is
a rubbed spot on the hood and a smaller one on the top that were there when the
car was delivered. I have made some minor modifications that involved no
drilling and can easily be returned to original. I will send all removed
parts with the car. The interior I sprayed carefully with quality vinyl
paint the same color as the seats and side panels, which may or may not be to a
future owner's liking. The original dash pads are cracked and covered with
molded dash caps and dash mats.
Also added Heatblock (carbon fiber) on floor, firewall, and trans cover, along
with Hushmat covering on floors, firewall, and doors. Also all gauges have
been cleaned, replaced or restored and work as designed, including clock.
Has original Blaupunkt stereo FM radio which needs output transistors and period
correct 8 Ohm speakers. Now has approx 180K miles; I have put on about 6K
in the past four years.
