Today’s engine oils no longer have ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl Dithio Phosphate) to protect your flat tappet (lifter) camshaft, used in all Volvo overhead valve engines (B20, B18, B16). This was mandated by the EPA in an effort to extend the life of catalytic converters used on newer cars. ZDDPlus™ restores the ZDDP levels in your engine oil to save your camshaft from premature wear. Simply poured in at every oil change, the addition of ZDDPlus™ (one 4 oz bottle per 4 – 5 quarts) is guaranteed to restore your oil’s capability to fully protect your engine as it was designed. We use it in all Volvo B20, B18 and B16 engines that we service as well as in our own vintage Volvos. Each 4 oz bottle of ZDDPlus™ costs $9.95, and can be added to your parts order or ordered separately. Order more than one bottle to be ready for future oil changes.
